Today, I’ll be trying out a new brand of digital audio players called ONIX, which has been collaborating with Shanling for a few years now. This is their first portable DAP, called Overture XM5, that has some cool tech on the inside, which I’ll mention in a second. Most of the things found under its hood were made to function in AC-powered desktop devices, so its headphone amplifier packs a serious punch, and its DAC section can be easily compared with mid-sized desktop DACs, but more on that later. It will cost you $739 or €819, and I think it’s the right time to check it out.
