EVERYTHING in ONE – EverSolo PLAY CD Edition Review

My audio rack usually looks like this: There is a streamer on the left, a CD transport on top, my DAC sits in the middle, and two power amplifiers, along with a preamplifier on the lower shelf, and all of that did cost me an arm and a leg. Would you believe me if I told you that EverSolo released a unit that does everything my system does and a little bit more at a significantly lower cost? This device is called the EverSolo Play CD Edition, and it goes for €800 locally and for $800 across the pond.

If you’re wondering what it does, I feel like I need to explain its feature set. Apart from the Gold Note IS-10 I reviewed two years ago, I don’t remember experiencing anything similar. First of all, this is a wired or wireless streamer. It also functions as a music server if you connect a USB flash drive, it also serves as a Roon Endpoint if Roon is your jam. Before you ask, it also supports Qobuz Connect, Tidal Connect, and Spotify Connect, allowing you to bypass its UI and use your phone to control music playback via the native Tidal, Qobuz, and Spotify apps. Additionally, this device is a high-quality DAC and a Class-D integrated amplifier capable of outputting 60 Watts in 8 Ohms and 110 Watts in 4 Ohms, which should be sufficient for most passive speakers. It also serves as a CD player, a CD transport if you want to use a higher-performance DAC, and a CD ripper, enabling you to rip your CDs in lossless quality to a flash drive or SSD connected via USB.

Now let’s check every feature available and discuss its sound in the usual fashion.
