A NEW TECHNICS Audiophile Turntable – the SL-1300G, carefully hand built in Japan.

Dear reader, Technics just announced the release of a new high-end turntable called the SL-1300G – aimed directly at audiophiles. The new model brings new technologies with the purpose of mitigating vibrations and improving rotational accuracy. Who does not love a new SL turntable from Technics? Let’s dive in and find out what makes this one special.
As per any turntable the most important part is the motor, and Sl-1300G has a new developed ΔΣ-Drive motor, which suppresses vibration and is more precise. The twin bearing direct drive motor is much smoother and more accurate in terms of playback.

The platter is also greatly improved being comprised of 3 separate layers, brass, aluminum and rubber to prevent unwanted vibrations. The platter is thick and heavy, providing great rotational stability.

The SL-1300G chassis is very rigid combining die-cast aluminum and other materials. The body of the SL-1300G is fully balanced at the factory, each unit being individually tested using high-precision tools.

The filtered power supply is also a new one, minimizing the impact of electrical interference and noise. But, a more important role is in the “arms” of the tonearm, with its specific Technics S-shape and being built from lightweight aluminum and having a gimbal suspension with high-precision bearings. Each turntable and tonearm is hand built at the Technics factory in Japan.

Finally, the chassis is decoupled, having a vibration control system built-in, made from silicone rubber.
So, I must say: the new SL-1300G looks amazing and it ticks all the audiophile boxes at $3000. SL-1300G will be available from this October, we cannot wait to get our hands (gently) on one of them.
