Finally, the DACMan is back, reviewing his favorite HiFi gear: digital to analog converters. In the next weeks, we will tell you three different stories about three different and unique sounding converters, one is an affordable and great sounding – the unit we’ll be testing today, the next one is a very punchy and dynamic sounding one that will reign supreme up to $2000 and the last one would be exactly that, the last DAC you will ever need, but expect it to cost you an arm and a leg. Today, we will be testing Topping’s newest D90 III Discrete DAC, which does so many things differently compared to anything they’ve done so far, but more about that in a minute. It normally goes for $999, but right now it sells for $849 for a couple of days, and knowing how amazing and different this DAC is compared to its predecessors, I would seriously consider giving it a try.
