Dear melomaniac, if you are on the lookout for a general cure, look no further as a new release from The Cure is out and fresher than ever. However, the recording is not new, back in 2001 this was originally a bonus disc included with their Greatest Hits album released back then.
“Acoustic Hits” was recorded in 2001 and contained The Cure hits spiced with this acoustic salt and pepper. However, this bonus disc was never released on streaming, but recently it happened and, oh boy, what a feast it is!
The disc includes 18 of their greatest hits like Boys Don’t Cry, Friday I’m In Love, Lullaby, Close To Me and many others in this intimate form full of acoustic marvel. I love this kind of release coming from an aged band that reminisces on their great past by playing their hits in a special form, either unplugged or acoustic. The disc features a very heartfelt rendition from Robert Smith and the band, putting a very intimate link between the listener and The Cure’s hits.
The disc features a Robert Smith gothier and post-punkisher than ever! I must say that he is one of the coolest guys out there, being a fellow you never forget, looking cool but making a mark on you with his deep Blair Witch looks.
So, dear melomaniac, take this cure, get yourself scared a little by Robert, and listen to this disc and, if you are old enough just like me, try and remember the band as it was on full power back in the 80s:
