Today is quite a special day because I will be telling you a story about the latest µDAC from LAiV Audio, an R2R ladder DAC that sells for just under a grand. But what makes today special, you might ask? Well, if you remember my review of the LAiV Harmony DAC and the conclusion I reached, then you should know that this little fellow uses the same R2R ladder modules and FPGA digital processing. Even the measurements are incredibly similar if you care about them. We’ve lost the beautiful remote control, the overengineered power supply, and filtering, and this time, there are no RCA outputs, as this is a balanced-only DAC. But do you know what we still get? The same outstanding sound quality that LAiV Audio is known for, now at a more affordable price.
