NEW RELEASE: AL DI MEOLA – Twentyfour. Latino jazz at its best.

Four years have passed, and no album was launched by the skillful latino-playing American guitarist Al Di Meola. Questions like “what happened to Al” were on melomaniacs’ lips. But no questions are necessary anymore because Al has launched a new album, a flowery fresh one called simply “Twentyfour”.

Twentyfour is very colorful in terms of music, having the same guitar thrill that we previously know from Al, but comes also with something new, a certain kind of certainty in his playing style, all put together with his unique fusion style, mixing classical guitar with jazz and latino scents, making the flower bouquet on the cover of the album smell very fresh and alive.

Al, by his own right, is a legend that got to sing with other legends in his youth, starting is carrier alongside Chick Corea and Jaco Pastorius, two gods of jazz. Even if his name “Di Meola” put together with his latino style of playing will make you believe he is Hispanic of some sorts, surprisingly he is of Italian descent, but with a deep twist in his music, changing pasta for paella. Al is currently in a happy relationship with Stephanie Kreis, having a beautiful daughter together, Ava. You can hear Al’s musical impression of Ava on a track from this album called “Ava’s Dance in the Moonlight”. You can see the two of them below:

Al plays bass, keyboards and guitars on this album, proving us his talents once again. He sings alongside Amit Kavthekar on tabla, Richie Morales on cajon, Hernan Romero on piano and Ivan Lopez on vocals. The album starts powerful with a track called “Fandango”, with some flamenco inspired tonics. The production is also done by Di Meola.

So, dear melomaniac, a great new album out there, so, let’s rejoice and listen together:
