UK’S CYRUS launches the new 40 SERIES. Sleek looking on the outside, BluOS on the inside!

Dear reader, something cool is being launched this year – the British company Cyrus is marking its 40th year anniversary with a new sleek series, called Cyrus 40 Series. Cyrus is claiming that this series is not anniversary, but, come on Cyrus, it is called “40”! The series is comprised of an integrated amplifier, a CD player, a network streamer and an external power supply. Even if the integrated amplifier has already a MM Phono stage, a separate phono preamplifier is in the works and will be launched the following year, so, in total five components in the 40 Series (non-anniversary) – will be available.

The design follows Cyrus’ “half” size philosophy that we all learned to accept over the years. However, the design is greatly improved, looking very slick, the bodies are made of anodized aluminum, with big high-resolution TFT screens and full glass front panels. If you look closely, the new 40 Series has amazing details, and it brings Cyrus into the modern world. Just look at the details:

The series has a new remote control that complements this sleek-looking design. As I said above, the attention to detail is paramount, for instance the screens have the option to turn off automatically and to power on when sensing that you are getting close. The key factor for the design was its “sleekness”. I can easily see these Cyrus devices in an architect’s top of the hill sleek glass house, sitting in a modernistic live-concrete open space floor plan. I know how architects are, sleek looking themselves, with their cool clothes and hairdo, they are very picky when it comes to electronic devices being included in their home. But, looking at architects and looking at the new 40 Series, I am sure they speak the same language. They will live happily together!

So, let’s start with the amplifier, the one that is called Cyrus 40 Amp. This one has 100 watts per channel into 6 ohms. It has a big TFT display, and it uses a new DAC based on ESS ES9039Q2M chip. The amplifier has multiple inputs and outputs, including a basic MM phono stage and HDMI eARC.

Next on the list is the CD player, called the Cyrus 40 CD, it uses the same DAC as the amplifier. Also, it uses a proprietary Cyrus technology called “servo evolution” – that reads disc data with maximum precision to minimize noise. The CD player has analog outputs (RCA only), and digital outputs (COAX and optical).

Going further, we have in this set the music streamer of this series, called Cyrus 40 ST. This is where the surprise comes: the streamer uses BluOS! Yes, you’ve heard right, Cyrus decided to use BluOS with this new streamer. This is some very great news for me, as I am a big fan of BluOS and I have been waiting on more streamers to embrace this great operating system. Cyrus 40 ST uses the same DAC as the whole series and can be used also as a separate DAC having digital inputs and outputs alongside with analog RCA outputs.

Finally, I am going to mention the power supply, this one is optional and can be used with any of the devices in the lineup via the proprietary connection.

Cyrus says that this is only the beginning, marking a new start for the British company, with great new products to come soon. The prices of the new 40 Series are significant: Cyrus 40 AMP – 4795 EUR, Cyrus 40 CD – 3595 EUR, Cyrus 40 ST – 3595 EUR and Cyrus 40 PSU – 2995 EUR.
