KEF’S Q-Series got updated with MAT technology and great contemporary design.

Dear reader, KEF has refreshed their entry-level series, called the Q-Series. As we already know, these series are aimed at both stereo and home-cinema, and in their new iteration things just gone up a notch with the introduction of KEF’s proprietary MAT technology (the so-called Metamaterial Absorption Technology), now present in the Q-Series for the first time. KEF’s Uni-Q driver technology is also included in all speakers of the Q-Series.

Eight speaker types are available in the Q-Series: the Q4 Meta on-wall speaker, the Q6 Meta center channel speaker and the Q8 Meta Dolby Atmos surround speaker, but the top of the range is represented by the two three-way floorstanders, the Q7 Meta and the Q11 Meta.

A big novelty in the Q-Series is the introduction of a 3-way bookshelf called the Q Concerto Meta, as a revival of the classic KEF Concerto of 1969. Also, a first in the Q-Series is an on-wall speaker, the Q4 Meta. The Q8 Meta is also very versatile, can be placed on top of a main speaker or as a wall mount speaker for Dolby Atmos effects.

If you ask me, I really like this series’ design, its contemporary minimalist finishes, looking premium and sleek but in a subtle way. The available finishes are Satin Black, Satin White and Walnut. I particularly like the latter:

All the speakers in the Q-Series will be available by the end of the year and prices will be very affordable, ranging from $600 to $2200. Here is the full price list:

Q1 Meta – $600 per Pair
Q3 Meta – $800 per Pair
Q Concerto – $1300 per Pair
Q6 Meta – $800 per Piece
Q7 Meta – $900 per Piece
Q11 Meta – $1100 per Piece
Q8 Meta – $800 per Pair
Q4 Meta – $500 per Piece
